Egypt / Cairo / 18.3.2012 / A Coptic family in the Cathedral: thousands of grieving Copts flocked to St Mark's Coptic Cathedral in Abbasseya on March 18th, for visiting Pope Shenouda III, the spiritual leader of the Middle East's largest Christian minority, died the 17th of March. Three persons have been crushed to death and 137 injured near the St Mark's Coptic Cathedral the evening of the 18th, first day of exhibition of the body of the Pope. Pope Shenuda III died at the age of 88, after a long battle with illness and based on his wishes he had been buried on March 20, at St. Bishoy monastery in Wadi Natrun in the Nile Delta where he spent his time in exile after a dispute with late president Anwar Sadat.
